Governance
NATIONAL Crisis Response Canines was formally incorporated as an all-volunteer nonprofit organization in July 2003. We are guided by a Board of Directors and governed by robust Bylaws.
Our Board is comprised of compassionate individuals who bring knowledge, experience and professional expertise from various disciplines — including education, health and mental health, chaplaincy, canine behavior, government, legal, technology, public safety, military, and failure analysis.
All are united by their deep understanding of and earnest commitment to provide governance, oversight and vision for our mission. Each Director serves a 3-year term with no compensation of any kind, as required by IRS regulations for all nonprofit organizations.
Our Board of Directors strives to continuously identify and recruit new directors in order to seat one-third of the Board each year. This provides for:
- New ideas, new relationships, new leadership and informed adaptive growth.
- Continuity, operational stability and a perpetual commitment to our mission.
- A profound understanding and deep appreciation for our mission’s history.
NATIONAL Crisis Response Canines is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and registered in Oregon with certified crisis response canine teams in communities across the United States. EIN 20-1850981
