Commitment to Privacy

NATIONAL Crisis Response Canines is a signatory to the International Code of Conduct for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in disaster relief. As such, we pledge a respect for the privacy of those we serve as well as to the security of staff and beneficiaries.

Ethics

NATIONAL Crisis Response Canines is committed to the ethical, respectful, and privacy-protective use of photographs, videos, and other images connected to our work.

  • Images of identifiable individuals may only be used with informed consent, and special care must be taken when photographing minors, vulnerable individuals, or crisis-related situations.
  • All images must preserve dignity, avoid sensationalism, and protect confidentiality.
  • Consent records and usage rights must be documented and maintained, and individuals may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Social media content must never exploit, sensationalize, or derive benefit — financial, reputational, or otherwise — from the trauma or suffering of individuals or communities; all posts must uphold dignity, respect, consent, and the ethical standards of NATIONAL Crisis Response Canines.

  • We invite media to contact us prior to active incidents for background on how trauma-informed crisis response canine teams are used during all phases of the crisis cycle.
  • During an active incident, please direct your requests for access/infornation to the Incident Command’s Public Information Officer.
